my thoughts

Have any of you seen last night's episode of ABC's Extreme Makeover Weightloss Edition? It started off on Ashley's 20th birthday when trainer Chris Powell surprised her. He took her to boot camp for the week then set her up with equipment at home. At the time, she was living with her mother and sisters who weren't very supportive. Her mom would yell at her about staying up to use the treadmill, and her sisters would sit and eat junk in front of her. They would say, "it's your choice not to eat it." That's like blowing smoke in the face of someone trying to give up cigarettes. At the holiday dinners, they only had foods that were extremely high in fat and calories, so Ashley wasn't able to eat with them. The whole time, they kept saying she will not make it, she will fail. The whole time Ashley was there, she wasn't making her goals. As soon as she moved out, the weight melted off. It's sad when your only support system only discusses your failures and not your successes. You need people around you that will encourage you. Hopefully your family will give you that. If you are not in a positive situation, then you need to be where you are. Or you will never reach your goals. What you listen to is what you're going to do. Listen to only the positive. There are times when you will lose a battle or two, just make sure you win the war.
