feeling awesome

Because of my health and weight issues, I needed an aid to help me clean and run my errands. Today, I walked for an hour while running all my errands for the day. So when she comes this afternoon, I might just let her take a break. Tonight is my two week weigh-in at my weight loss class. I was weighed at the doctor's office on Monday, and that showed an 11 pound weight loss in 12 days. So I know I'll blow the group away tonight.

good day

My weight and health was so bad, I actually had to get a helper to run my errands for me. Just walking to the corner to catch the bus was agony. Today, I went to the grocery store. I carried 6 bags of groceries across the big parking lot to the street to catch the bus home. Then I carried the bags across the parking lost at our apartment complex, up the stairs to the front door of our building, then up another set of stairs to our apartment. I put the groceries away right when Chloe was getting home. We ran back down to the corner to catch the bus coming back to run another errands, then back home. I am NOT in pain. I feel pretty good.

You are so not going to believe this...

Chloe had a doctor's appointment this morning. The nurse let me weigh myself. In the past 12 days, I have lost 11 pounds. I was trying so hard not to cry in the waiting room.

Don't give up what you love, just change it part 2

Yesterday, I blogged about my "McMommy's" meals. Tonight, we're having "Mama Hut". I used a Boboli whole wheat thin crust, Ragu chunky garden combo pasta sauce, cheese with grilled turkey breast on my side and mini pepperoni on my daughter's side. Love it.

Don't give up what you love, just change it

Every Friday night, Chloe and I like to grab some fast food and watch Fringe. Now I'm making my own healthier version of fast food called "McMommy's". Tonight, I'm making turkey burgers, nuggets from bl/sl chick breast, sweet potato oven fries, and apple slices. I love having Blue Bunny ice cream, but I can never stop when I've had enough. Luckily, Blue Bunny now has personal sized 1/2 cup containers for a buck. From what I save on making my own fast food, I can afford it. Sometimes, I'll pick Chloe up a little something from the dollar store or print her off coloring pages from the internet to give her a "happy meal". Just remember you don't have to give up what you love, just change it. Plus, it's more fun when Chloe and I make dinner together.

reorganized my home, reorganize my life

Today, with the help of friends, I started decluttering and reorganizing my apartment. I even cleaned out my pantry getting rid of the food I will not eat anymore. My soda withdrawal headaches are gone. I've starting putting together the "girly Star Trek" bedroom that Chloe's been wanting. My apartment is becoming a home, and I am becoming a healthy woman and mother. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

WORST IS OVER... I hope

The past 24 hours were horrible with the soda withdrawals, but I survived... even better, Chloe survived. I still have a bit of a headache, but I can do this. My coach asked me to try to go 21 days without soda. Tomorrow will be a week, I just have to make it two more weeks. Thank you to all who've prayed for me, please continue to do so.

online helper

I'm using www.myfitnesspal.com. It has a tool that calculates how many calories, fat, protein, etc that you need per day. There's a food calculator that does the work for you, just record what you eat. There's also a exercise tool. You put in what you did and for how long. Then it calculates it with what you ate. It records your intake and out take. You can also join the community on there with others who are also trying to get healthy.

Sunday Feb 18

I know some people out there don't believe there's such a thing as a soda addiction. They say, "Just quit cold turkey." To those people I say,  "Go to a smoker, take their cigarettes, and tell them to quit cold turkey." They'll be lucky if they don't get hit. I went from drinking a case (yes, 24 cans) of Pepsi or Mountain Dew a day to about 1 or 2 cans a day. Every time I tried to quit, I would be fine for about a day or so. After that, I'd have severe withdrawals. Tuesday, I had my last soda. I am determined to make it this time. I've been having withdrawals all day. Went to church. My headaches and nausea tried to cause problems when the music came on, but I decided to get up and praise the Lord anyway. Plus dancing burns calories. Haven't eaten much today because of the nausea, I will try to have at least a protein shake tonight. I am not going to let the withdrawals win... I AM GOING TO OVERCOME MY SODA ADDICTION!

local Biggest Loser Challenge

I signed up for a local Biggest Loser Challenge. Chloe and I wear Leonard Nimoy's Live Long and Prosper clothing line as our team t-shirts (seems appropriate). I have a coach and using Herbalife protein shakes that are delicious and are filling. We even got kids' shakes for Chloe. Today we had Elvis shakes (made with peanut butter and banana). So far, I'm doing ok with giving up soda. We'll keep you posted.
