tonight's Mythbusters' episode

I'm watching Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel. Tonight is their Thanksgiving episode. One of the myths they tested was whether or not turkey causes you to be sleepy because of the Tryptophan. First, they did a control test using a Mythbusters version of Wac-A-Mole. Then they took Tryptophan in it's pure pill form and did the test. Next, they had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Their test results were defiantly lower. After that, the guys had another Thanksgiving dinner without the turkey and a protein powder mixed in the potatoes before doing the test. Lastly, they had the same traditional dinner but in reasonable serving sizes. The final test showed that it's not the turkey that makes you tired, it's the severe caloric-intake. The 2200 + calorie dinner made them way more sleepy than the 500 calorie one. So remember when it comes to your holiday meal, it's not just what you eat but how much you eat.
